First Baptist Woodstock’s Sports Ministry strives to enhance the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well being of our community, church members, and staff through sports, recreation, and wellness.

Recreation

Youth Basketball / Cheerleading

Upward Basketball provides a fun environment built around healthy competition for kids, teaching skills for the sports arena and values for life.

Students

  • Practice once a week: Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri – 5:45, 6:30 or 7:15PM
  • Team devotions at every practice
  • Equal playing time for all participants

Divisions:

  • Basketball: K-8th Grade
  • Basketball Cheerleading (Girls): K-6th

Girls:

  • K-2nd grade
  • 3rd-5th grade
  • 6th-8th grade

Boys:

  • Kindergarten
  • 1st-2nd grade
  • 3rd-4th grade
  • 5th-6th grade
  • 7th-8th grade

Evaluations:

  • Boys and Girls 3rd – 4th Grade: Thursday night November 11th from 6pm to 8pm.
  • Boys and Girls 5th – 8th Grade: Friday night November 12th from 6pm to 8pm.
  • Boys and Girls K – 2nd Grade: NO EVALUATIONS. Players in this age can come Nov 11th or 12th to confirm uniform sizes.
  • Cheerleaders: NO EVALUATIONS. Cheerleaders can come on Nov 11th or 12th to confirm uniform sizes.

Registration Opens: Sept 20, 2021.
Registration Fee: $115.00 for Early Bird Price. $130.00 after Oct 17th.

  • Invest in students’ lives through sports.

  • Receive $40 for each team coached (a rebate will be given after attending coaches’ training).

Adult Basketball

Men’s Open Gym is open to anybody in the community. All participants must adhere to the rules of all Volunteer Supervisors. FBCW reserves the right to ask any participant that is not abiding by any rules to leave the FBCW campus.

Students

  • Men’s Open Gym ages 18-29: Mondays from 6pm to 9:30pm.
  • Men’s Open Gym ages 30 and above: Thursdays from 6pm to 9:30pm
  • Men’s Open Gym 18 and above: Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays 7am to 10 am
  • Men’s Basketball League: League runs in the Spring and Fall. To find out there is availability for a team contact Greg Rikel at greg.rikel@fbcw.net

Wellness Facilities

Exercise rooms are available to church members at no cost.

Times are subject to change. Please note that the organized Men’s Open Gym runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. See the Recreation page for more details.

Rules

  • Stop by the Sports Ministry Staff to fill out a user agreement form.
  • Groups of 5 or less may use the gym without a reservation if approved by the Sports Ministry Staff. Groups of 5 or more must reserve the gym for usage.
  • Students age 15 or younger must have a parent or legal guardian with them at all times.
  • A supervisor aged 21 years or older must be present to supervise at all times and be responsible for any damage.
  • Open Gym is first come, first serve. Shirts must be worn at all times and music played in the gym is NOT allowed. FBCW reserves the right to ask any participant that is not abiding by any rules to leave the FBCW campus.
  • Equipment orientation is available upon request. Contact Greg Rikel at greg.rikel@fbcw.net.

Walking Path

  • 1 mile, 1.25 mile, and 1.5 mile loop around the campus
  • The path begins at Kidzstock and is clearly marked with signs, arrows, and relevant scripture to meditate on.

Blood Drive

We partner with the American Red Cross to host two blood drives each year.

Are you a student who wants to gain experience in wellness and recreation within a church environment? At First Baptist Woodstock, interns can develop their skills by assisting in:

  • Coordinating community resources
