Youth Basketball / Cheerleading

Upward Basketball provides a fun environment built around healthy competition for kids, teaching skills for the sports arena and values for life.

Students

  • Practice once a week: Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri – 5:45, 6:30 or 7:15PM
  • Team devotions at every practice
  • Equal playing time for all participants

Divisions:

  • Basketball: K-8 Grade

  • Basketball Cheerleading (Girls): K-6

Girls:

  • K-2 grade
  • 3-5 grade
  • 6-8 grade

Boys:

  • Kindergarten
  • 1-2 grade
  • 3-4 grade
  • 5-6 grade
  • 7-8 grade

Required evaluations for third through 8th grade on Saturday, November 11. 3rd-4th grade 10:00AM-12:00PM, 5th-8th grade 8:00AM-10:00AM.

Coaches

  • Invest in students’ lives through sports.
  • Lead one practice a week and one game a week.
  • Attend coach training.
  • Receive $40 for each team coached (a rebate will be given after attending coaches’ training).

Youth Soccer

Students

Registration

  • Registration: Early Bird–$115
  • Registration Fee increases to $130 on Monday, June 5, 2023
  • Last Day to Register: Friday, June 30, 2023

Details

  • Practices and games will be held at Dupree Park beginning Monday, August 7, 2023.
  • Practices will be on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays.
  • Games will be on Saturdays.
  • Games will begin on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
  • Each team will play eight games.

  • 4-5 year olds
  • 1-2 grade
  • 3-4 grade
  • 5-8 grade

Coaches

  • Evaluation Day for 3-8 Grade: Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Dupree Park
  • 3-4 Grade Boys and Girls 9:00-10:00AM
  • 5-8 Grade Boys and Girls 10:00-11:00AM
  • Scrimmage Style Evaluation: please wear active wear and shin guards. BRING WATER!
  • 4 years olds-2nd Grade will NOT have an evaluation, but can come double check jersey size.

High School Basketball – March 2023

Students

Details

  • Limited Space: 40 boys and 40 girls only
  • 8 Game Season in 4 Weeks.
  • Girls will practice and play a game on Tuesdays at 6:00PM, 7:00PM, 8:00PM or 9:00PM. Then play a game on Saturdays at either 9:00AM or 10:00AM.
  • Boys will practice and play a game on Fridays at 6:00PM, 7:00PM, 8:00PM or 9:00PM and play a game on Saturdays at either 11:00AM or 12:00PM.
  • Limited to 1 Friend Request Only

COACHING OPPORTUNITIES

Adult Basketball

Men’s Open Gym is open to anybody in the community. All participants must adhere to the rules of all Volunteer Supervisors. FBCW reserves the right to ask any participant that is not abiding by any rules to leave the FBCW campus.

Details

  • Men’s Open Gym ages 18-29: Mondays from 6pm to 9:30pm.
  • Men’s Open Gym ages 30 and above: Thursdays from 6pm to 9:30pm
  • Men’s Open Gym 18 and above: Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays 7am to 10 am
  • Men’s Basketball League:”League runs in the Spring each year. Registration will open in January. To find out if there is availability for a team contact Shea Ferguson at shea.ferguson@fbcw.net.

Wellness Facilities

Exercise rooms are available to church members at no cost.

Times are subject to change. Please note that the organized Men’s Open Gym runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. See the Recreation page for more details.

Rules

  • Stop by the Sports Ministry Staff to fill out a user agreement form.
  • Groups of 5 or less may use the gym without a reservation if approved by the Sports Ministry Staff. Groups of 5 or more must reserve the gym for usage.
  • Students age 15 or younger must have a parent or legal guardian with them at all times.
  • A supervisor aged 21 years or older must be present to supervise at all times and be responsible for any damage.
  • Open Gym is first come, first serve. Shirts must be worn at all times and music played in the gym is NOT allowed. FBCW reserves the right to ask any participant that is not abiding by any rules to leave the FBCW campus.
  • Equipment orientation is available upon request. Contact Shea Ferguson at shea.ferguson@fbcw.net.

Walking Path

  • 1 mile, 1.25 mile, and 1.5 mile loop around the campus
  • The path begins at Kidzstock and is clearly marked with signs, arrows, and relevant scripture to meditate on.

We partner with the American Red Cross to host two blood drives each year.

Are you a student who wants to gain experience in wellness and recreation within a church environment? At First Baptist Woodstock, interns can develop their skills by assisting in:

  • Facility supervision
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Recreation league seasons

  • Staff health promotion
  • Coordinating community resources
