First Baptist Woodstock’s Sports Ministry strives to enhance the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well being of our community, church members, and staff through sports, recreation, and wellness.

Recreation Leagues

Youth Basketball / Cheerleading

Upward Basketball provides a fun environment built around healthy competition for kids, teaching skills for the sports arena and values for life.

Students

  • Practice once a week: Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri – 5:45, 6:30 or 7:15PM
  • Team devotions at every practice
  • Equal playing time for all participants

Divisions:

  • Basketball: K-8th Grade
  • Basketball Cheerleading (Girls): K-6th

Girls:

  • K-2nd grade
  • 3rd-5th grade
  • 6th-8th grade

Boys:

  • Kindergarten
  • 1st-2nd grade
  • 3rd-4th grade
  • 5th-6th grade
  • 7th-8th grade

Coaches

  • Invest in students’ lives through sports.
  • Lead one practice a week and one game a week.
  • Attend coach training.
  • Receive $40 for each team coached (a rebate will be given after attending coaches’ training).

Referees

  • Invest in students’ lives by officiating games to help both teams have an enjoyable and safe experience.
  • Serve as an on the court/field coach.

Camps

We host a number of different sports camps throughout the summer, providing your child with quality training and care. All registration must be done through the camp leadership, not the Wellness & Recreation office.

Wellness Facilities

Exercise rooms are available to church members at no cost.

EXERCISE ROOM HOURS
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 7:00AM – 9:00PM
Wednesday: 7:00AM – 5:00PM
Friday: 7:00AM – 2:00PM
Saturday: 10:00AM – 2:00PM

GYM HOURS
Monday-Thursday: 8:00AM – 5:30PM
Friday: 8:00AM – 12:00PM

Rules

  • All gym users must stop by the Wellness and Recreation office to fill out a user agreement form.
  • Groups of 5 or less may use the gym without a reservation if approved by the Wellness & Recreation Staff. Groups of 5 or more must reserve the gym for usage.
  • Students age 15 or younger must have a parent or legal guardian with them at all times.
  • An FBCW approved supervisor aged 21 years or older must be present to supervise at all times and be responsible for any damage.
  • Equipment orientation is available upon request. Contact Greg Rikel at 678.494.2925.

Walking Path

  • 1 mile, 1.25 mile, and 1.5 mile loop around the campus
  • The path begins at Kidzstock and is clearly marked with signs, arrows, and relevant scripture to meditate on.

Volunteer Opportunities

Blood Drive

We partner with the American Red Cross to host two blood drives each year.

Internships

Are you a student who wants to gain experience in wellness and recreation within a church environment? At First Baptist Woodstock, interns can develop their skills by assisting in:

  • Facility supervision
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Recreation league seasons
  • Volunteer recruitment
  • Leadership training/development
  • Staff health promotion
  • Coordinating community resources
