‘“Child service organization personnel” means person employed by or volunteering at a business or an organization, whether public, private, for profit, not for profit, or voluntary, that provides care, treatment, education, training, supervision, coaching, counseling, recreational programs, or shelter to children’.
A. Requirements
- A Criminal History Consent form is required for submission by all employed staff members and supervisory volunteers. This will be updated every three years.
- All employed staff and supervisory volunteers shall attend a child abuse awareness training session within 90 days of their first day of service. If there is not a training session scheduled within this time frame, a training video will be provided in the interim.
- Each employed staff member and volunteer will receive a copy of this policy and are required to sign a statement certifying receipt. Record of abuse training and signed statement will be kept on file in the administrative office.
B. What is Abuse?
“A child whose physical or mental health or welfare is harmed or threatened with harm by acts or omissions of his/her parent or other person responsible for his/her welfare.”
Types of Child Abuse
Generally, child abuse is categorized in four primary forms:
- Physical abuse
- Emotional abuse
- Neglect
- Sexual abuse
Reporting Guidelines
Should an adult in charge suspect abuse the following procedures shall apply for reporting the alleged abuse:
- The adult in charge should make an oral report directly to the designated staff employee immediately.
- I understand that once the report is verbally given to the designated staff employee, my obligations as required by Georgia Law have been fulfilled.
- Sign and date the following statement indicating that you have been fully informed by First Baptist Church Woodstock of the Georgian Child Abuse Mandate Law:
I understand it is Georgia Law that I must make a report anytime I have reasonable cause to believe a child is being abused.
Please refrain from discussing any concerns about potential abuse with other staff, workers, or parents.

Should my application be accepted, I agree to be bound by the Bylaws and policies of this First Baptist Woodstock and to refrain from unscriptural conduct in the performance of my services on behalf of the church. I further state that I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THE FOREGOING RELEASE AND KNOW THE CONTENT THEREOF, AND I SIGN THIS RELEASE AS MY OWN FREE ACT. This is legally binding agreement, which I have read and understand.
