International Student Ministry
And if a stranger dwells with you in your land, you shall not mistreat him. The stranger who dwells among you shall be to you as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself;
Leviticus 19:33-34a
The opportunity to know these students is such a privilege.
Over one million international students each year come to universities in the United States. More than twenty thousand of these students are here in universities in Atlanta.
- 80% are pursuing graduate degrees
- They are the brightest and the best academically
- Most want to meet and become friends with Americans
- Sadly, most international students do not make significant friendships with Americans while here
- 90% are never invited to an American home or experience life with an American family
Over twenty thousand students come to universities in Atlanta every year. Students come from China, India, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Nepal, and over a hundred other countries.
Our Purpose
To welcome international students into our community and provide them friendship and caring families as they are away from their home.
We partner with Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM) at Georgia tech, Georgia state and our partner at Emory University to plan and host international student focused events, and provide services such as transportation, meals, and other activity resources for the international students.
Get Involved
- Welcoming the international students into our community through airport pickups
- Greeting and serving the international students at various events at the University
- Making yourself available to become friends with an international student
- Opening your heart & home to share American culture and learn from their culture
- Including international students in holiday celebration, and family activities
