Welcome Morton Family! We are glad you are here.

On Sunday, September 16, 2018, Jeremy Morton preached in view of the call at both morning services. Jeremy was approved, by the church, to be brought on staff as co-pastor to work alongside of the church and our Lead Pastor, Johnny Hunt. Jeremy will ultimately become the senior pastor, but not until he and Pastor Johnny feel the timing is best for the church. This will ensure that First Baptist Woodstock is set up to experience our best days moving forward.

Jeremy and his wife, Carrie are lifelong Georgia residents who were church planters in the central part of the state for many years. Jeremy became the senior pastor of Cartersville First Baptist Church in the fall of 2013. Before his role as senior pastor at CFBC, Jeremy served as senior pastor at Cross Point Baptist Church in Perry since its inception in 2002. He has been preaching since the age of 16. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Christianity from Brewton Parker College in 2004, a Master of Divinity in Biblical Studies from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2007, and upon completing his dissertation will receive his Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Jeremy’s hobbies include sports, reading, enjoying nature, and spending time with family. Pastor Jeremy’s life purpose statement: “I aim to glorify God by being a faithful husband, supportive father, loyal friend, and loving leader.” Jeremy and Carrie are the proud parents of Zeke, Madie, and Abe. The Morton’s believe God’s call upon their family is to immerse themselves in the local church. They have a clear passion for people and their community. Their earnest prayer is for God’s glory to be displayed in their personal and public life as a family.

A Legacy worth Celebrating:

We are very grateful for Pastor Johnny’s rich legacy at First Baptist Church Woodstock. Since December 1986, FBCW has grown from 200 people in attendance on Sundays to over 6,000 people in weekly attendance. During these 32 years, our groups have seen a significant increase from just 100 people in Sunday Groups to over 5,500 in weekly small groups. Since 1986, we have also helped plant 130 new churches, sent hundreds of people on short-term mission trips each year, and currently support 45 families who have been commissioned for full-time service out of Woodstock. In 1986, $0 was given towards missions, however, in 2018 alone, over $2.1 million dollars have been given towards missions. For all of these accomplishments, we give God the praise and thank Pastor Johnny and Janet for pouring their hearts into the ministries of First Baptist Church Woodstock!

From Pastor Johnny:

“In praying through this transitional time in my life I ask the Lord to show me His man. I feel that Jeremy fits every quality I felt needed to lead FBCW to its best days. He’s a great family man, a great bible preacher, a personal soul winner, and tremendous at building relationships with God’s people.

One of Jeremy’s personal character traits is that he is TEACHABLE. This quality is huge.

Lastly I love Jeremy! We have a great respect for each other and I’m elated that he will pastor my children, grandchildren, and my wife Janet and me.”
